1- Paella

You’ve probably enjoyed a few Paella’s in your day, but in case you haven’t…it’s one of the first things you must eat when you step foot in Barcelona! Paella is an iconic rice and seafood Spaniard dish. Never fear, those of you who aren’t fans of seafood, you can find it made with many other meats as well. It is definitely one of those dishes that hits the spot. Traditionally, Paella is served for special occasions, but you can still find it on many menus. We’ve included a tour that offers it as part of their experience. Take a look at this experience: Barcelona : Paella Cooking Experience + Boqueria Market Exclusive Tour

2 – “La Bamba”

The most iconic tapas dishes that can be found in Barcelona are called the “la bomba” (the bomb in English).

The best way describes this bite of deliciousness, is its essentially a tennis ball-sized potato croquette. It is often served with two different sauces: a white garlic aioli that represents the string fuse that the anarchists would light before launching their grenades and a rich and spicy red sauce that represents the bombs’ explosive qualities.

Not only are they delicious to eat, but they are an edible piece of Catalan history.

“La Bomba” is a must for all foodies in Barcelona! If you don’t eat one then did you really go to Barcelona?! We’ve included a few tours that offers it as part of their experience. Take a look at this experience: Barcelona Gothic Quarter Tapas & Taverns Food & Wine Tour

#3 – Pa amb Tomàquet

Now for you picky eaters, we have something simple for you to try too!

It’s true what they say: “The simple things are always the best.”

Pa amb Tomàquet means “bread with tomato,” and is a simple yet essential dish that can be paired with every meal from breakfast to lunch and dinner.

The bread is rubbed with garlic and tomato juice, and then it is seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Some places even serve the ingredients separately so you can make it yourself.

You don’t even have to stop there. You can always add some cheese and meat to it. Then you have yourself a little sandwich. Yum! We’ve included a tour that offers it as part of their experience. They are often served with toasted bread and olive oil, garlic, and salt. If you’re lucky, you might even get some anchovies too. It’s simple but good.
